The 3.5" WD My Cloud 4TB external hard drive (WDBCTL0040HWT-EESN) can be used as a network data storage or a peripheral storage device. This drive connects to TVs, players, receivers, and similar equipment as an external media file storage. Additionally, this model can be used to establish a backup or external storage system for important data by connecting the drive to a computer, router, or server.
LAN AND USB
The drive's interface includes LAN and USB type ports. Using the first port, the storage device connects to the wired network, serving all surrounding devices. Using the universal port (USB), the drive can be connected to a specific consumer - a player, TV, or computer.
DLNA SUPPORT
When connected to a wireless or wired router, the drive can serve any DLNA-compatible devices, operating in media file storage mode. In this case, WD My Cloud can also be used by mobile device owners.
BACKUP WITH WD SmartWare Pro
The WD My Cloud cloud storage can be used to set up an automated backup service. With the help of the WD SmartWare Pro utility, the drive can work with any computers and servers, including Apple products.
COMPATIBILITY WITH Mac AND PC
The WD My Cloud drive is compatible with both Mac and PC computers. To synchronize with devices, it requires special software available on the manufacturer's website.
